Peppermint Oil Capsules 0.2 ml

What is peppermint oil and what is it used for?

  • Peppermint oil is an antispasmodic used to relieve symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), such as painful cramps and bloating in the intestines between the navel, groin, and sides. Peppermint oil works by relaxing the spasms in your intestines, which helps reduce pain and pushes gas pockets through the intestines and out of the body, thus reducing bloating. Signs and symptoms of IBS may be more pronounced when you're feeling anxious and stressed.

Do not take peppermint oil:

  • If you are allergic to peppermint oil or any of the ingredients in this medication, tell your doctor about the allergy and any signs you experience.
  • If you are allergic to soybeans or peanuts (this product contains peanut oil).

Warnings and Precautions:

  • Stop taking the medicine immediately and talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you experience allergic reactions such as shortness of breath, skin rash, swelling of the face or neck, low blood pressure, and dizziness.
  • Talk to your doctor for advice if this is the first time you have experienced these symptoms.
  • Talk to your doctor if your symptoms get worse or do not improve after two weeks.
  • This medication may worsen heartburn if you already have it. Stop taking this medication if this happens.
  • Avoid drinking alcohol with this medicine.

Possible side effects:

  • Possible side effects include signs of an allergic reaction, such as skin rash and itching, a burning sensation in the throat and mouth, nausea, vomiting, indigestion, heartburn, and anal discomfort.

Other medications and peppermint oil:

  • Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken, or might take any other medications. Be sure to tell your doctor or pharmacist about any medications you are taking for indigestion.

How to take peppermint oil:

  • Adults and children 15 years and over
  • The recommended dosage is one capsule taken orally three times a day.
  • If symptoms are severe, you can take two capsules orally three times a day.
  • Children under 15 years old
  • This medicine is not recommended for use in children under 15 years of age.
  • Do not take the capsule immediately after eating. Do not eat for 30 to 60 minutes after taking the medication.
  • Swallow the capsule with a small amount of water. Do not crush or chew the capsule.
  • Be sure to take this medicine until your symptoms stop (one to two weeks).
  • Make sure not to take this medicine with other indigestion medicines (they may damage the capsule).
  • This medication comes in hard gelatin capsules that can break. Therefore, be sure to remove the capsule from the blister pack by gently pressing on the tip of the capsule.

How to store peppermint oil:

  • Keep this medicine out of reach of children and pets.
  • Store the medicine at a temperature below 25°C.
  • Do not use the medicine after the expiry date printed on the carton.
  • Keep the medicine in its original package to protect it from moisture and light.
  • Do not use damaged capsules.
  • Do not dispose of medicines via wastewater or household waste.
